As per the case facts this batch of appeals arises from judgments of the High Court concerning show cause notices issued by respondent banks undertakings to appellants regarding the termination ... of their services One appellant despite obtaining a high rank in engineering was issued a show cause notice The reason for the appeal to the Supreme Court is to challenge the validity of these show cause notices The question arose whether the proposed action of terminating services based on the show cause notices could be sustained especially when an appellant claimed merit-based employment regardless of other issues Finally the Supreme Court held that the proposed action of the respondent banks undertakings in issuing show cause notices for termination of services to the appellants could not be sustained and were therefore quashed Consequently the impugned judgments of the Division Bench were quashed and set aside and the appeals were allowed
